July 2018- At our monthly meeting we had Tamsyn talk to us about the upcoming stand against gender based violence, and violence against gender non-conforming and transgender persons. The Total Shutdown will be on the 1st August and we are standing with them in solidarity for all the transgender men and women, lesbians, women and children that have been victims of the violence perpetrated by men.

July was also Mandela Day!

June 2018– This year was the first time for some of our members to go to a Pride celebration. It was such an honour to share this with them and see the joy that they experienced at being surrounded by the LGBTI community. As usual we sold our ties, and for the first time we also sold transgender flags! Our trans community are certainly making their voices heard! (pics to follow)

June 2018– holds a great new initiative that offers the trans* community in Durban, private sessions each month with a psychologist. And finally, the World Health Organisation declassifies gender incongruence as a mental illness! June 2018…it’s about time!

World Health Organisation declassifies gender incongruence as a mental illness! June 2018.

May 2018– Every year we have our Durban beach walk for the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, coupled with our poster competition.

Our annual event is in support of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, as we stand in solidarity with those who have experienced hate crimes.

Leading up to the walk is our poster competition for the youth, the best posters will be used in our beach walk.
